Barcelona is Spain’s second largest city. Barcelona is a great city located near Italy and Andorra. Barcelona is a thriving city with many interesting places to visit.

From the Mediterranean and its land boundaries, Barcelona is the place that the rich and wealthy come to play and live.

The time you spend in Barcelona will be unforgettable. The center of Barcelona is connected through the Las Ramblas boulevard – a very popular street with tree lined walkways where people get together to shop and hang out. You can’t miss it as it stretches from the ocean to the city center.

The City of Barcelona is rich in history and tradition. The city is full of artistic masterpieces, festivals, and churches.

Barcelona is also famous for the fine art Nouveau structure that were designed between 1885 and 1950. The most popular and well known masterpieces are made by Antoni Gaudi (1852-1926). Probably one of the most well known tourist attraction in Barcelona is the La Sagrada Familia — Gaudi’s never finished this work of art even though he spent four decades working on it.

Another reason why people come to visit Barcelona is for her Roman Catholic Basilica. In the month of October, one of the popular events is the Barcelona’s Intercontinental Report on the Estació del Nord. The Worldwide Jazz music festival also draws many visitors to this city.

Barcelona also has a lot of excellent concert halls. One of the most famous is the well know Nan Teatre andel Liceu safari cinema. Be sure you visit the Picasso Museum along with Fundacio Antonio Tapies to enjoy numerous great works of art by Picasso. Barcelona has one of the best collection of Picasso structures and paintings in the world since Picasso spent so much time there painting.

Spain is one of the most colorful countries that you will ever visit. With over 46 million people occupying approximately 235 square miles of some of the most picturesque lands, you will fall in love with the people and the region. Each region of Spain has its own dialectic and history.

Although Castilian is recognized as the official language of Spain, the other languages of Spain are Basque, Catalan, and Galician. The majority of the people in Spain are Roman Catholic.

The best way to travel around Spain is through their train system. Until recently, Spain now has a very extensive high speed rail system. The AVE Barcelona Madrid is one of the most frequently used routes in Spain. Those traveling from other countries in Europe will mostly like use the Paris to Madrid line.

Previously, the train system in Spain was very old and slow. I used to laugh at how long it took to get to Madrid after you crossed into Spain from Paris. You would have to switch trains and ride on Spain’s old and slow trains which took twice as long. But all that has now changed.

Spain now boast the second most extensive high speed train network in the world. The trains now reach 187 mph. No longer do you have to take a night train from Madrid to Barcelona. Now it takes roughly about 4 hours which is amazing.

If trains are not your thing and you need to get around faster, Spain has over 47 public airports. Madrid and Barcelona being the two major international hubs but you can get around just about anyway via airplanes as well as to the fame island of Ibiza.

Perhaps one of the loveliest cities in Spain is Seville. The largest Andaluican city, Seville is a very romantic and quant destination. Wind down its narrow medieval lanes and romantic hidden plazas. The city is known for its rich history of bullfighting and flamenco dancing.

Many visitors come to Seville to visit the tomb where Christopher Columbus is buried only to fall in love with this breath taking city.

Seville lies on the banks of the Guadalquivir river. The Guadalquivir river serves as the life line of the city as it navigates and cross the city from North to South.

Within the old city area, the Cathedral and the Giralda tower are to must see attractions. Consider picking up some food and walk around the Plaza de Espana and having a picnic within her lovely gardens.

Don’t forget to eat the tapas as the city is created for inventing the concept. There are thousands of tapas bar littered throughout the city with delicious food. Each location has their own menu and specialty so try as many as you can. It doesn’t hurt that they also happen to serve some really good Spanish beers and wines.

Spain is one of the most amazing countries in the world. Each section of her territories offerings stunning beauty, cultural diversity and fascinating sights. Spain must be seen slowly. Off the beaten path towns are some of the unique areas you will ever explore. Each part of Spain offers different types of foods and quality of life. The country is very large. With national neighbors with Portugal and France the county enjoys a mix of influences from her neighbors.

Traveling from Seville to Cadiz to Alegeciras, you can take a boat ride over to Morocco. In Algeciras, you can take a taxi ride over to Gibraltar (United Kingdom territory) . It’s not every day that you can be on Spanish soil and cross the ocean and go to Africa, come back on the same day and end up in British territory enjoying fish and chips.

Spain’s Coasta Bravo which is down the coast from Barcelona, offers some of the most amazing beach towns that you will ever visit. For a few dollars, you can take a bus trip to these small towns and stay on the beach looking up at a castle that overlooks the ocean.

If you are dying to see what running of the bulls is all about consider taking a train ride from Madrid to Pamplona and partake in perhaps one of the biggest party that you will ever experience in your life. Then after watching the running of the bulls, you can hang out with all the hung over patrons at the train station and consider taking the train up to San Sebastian, where some of the most amazing white sand beach – neighboring France. Enjoy the fresh seafood and excellent Spanish wine.

Overall Spain is one of the most fun and amazing country to visit. You can spend weeks and months enjoying its rich culture and never have enough time to see and enjoy it all.
